Since the inception of RPM Sand in 2013, Coach Nick Bowling has been a vital part of the program's growth and success. With over two decades of coaching experience across both beach and indoor volleyball, Coach Nick brings a deep passion for developing athletes and fostering a love for the sport at every level.
As a dedicated Spanish teacher, Coach Nick is committed to the holistic growth of young athletes both on and off the court. His journey in coaching began humbly as a volunteer assistant coach for high school indoor volleyball teams in Flagstaff, Arizona. From those early years, his career has evolved to include national championships and high-profile coaching roles on the professional beach volleyball circuit.
Coach Nick has been instrumental in guiding teams to four juniors national championship victories and has served in the AVP coaches' box since 2018, working alongside some of the most recognized names in beach volleyball. His first head coaching role on the AVP tour came in 2019, when he coached Kristen Nuss and Claire Coppola as Nuss, now an AVP Champion and 2024 Olympian, made her mark in the main draw.
In 2021, Coach Nick collaborated with AVP Champions Hailey Harward and Julia Scoles, as well as standout NCAA athletes Macy Gordon and Charlie Ekstrom. The following year, in 2022, he worked with 2021 Olympian Sarah Sponcil and AVP Champion Terese Cannon, further cementing his reputation for coaching excellence at the highest levels of competition.
Coach Nick's extensive experience across all levels of the game enables him to bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to the park each night with RPM Sand. His unique ability to blend professional-level strategy with youth development ensures that his coaching remains dynamic, informed, and deeply impactful. He views his work with professional athletes as a way to continually enhance the coaching he provides to juniors, appreciating the mutual growth that comes from coaching at every stage of the game.
