Danko Iordanov
Coach
Danko is originally from of Varna, Bulgaria but he moved to the US and California over 20 years ago. He received an undergraduate degree in Economics at Rutgers University in NJ, and then two Masters degrees at Concordia University, Irvine - MA and MS in Coaching, Athletic Administration & Exercise Science. Currently, he is the associate head coach for the Cypress volleyball and beach volleyball teams and he also teaches in the Kinesiology department.
Prior to Cypress he was the head coach of the University of Saint Katherine’s (NAIA) men’s indoor and beach volleyball teams for three seasons. Prior to St. Katherine, he started the men’s indoor and beach volleyball programs at Westcliff University in Irvine, California.
Prior to college coaching, he was a professional beach player, consistently ranked in the top 100 players in the U.S. and participating in over 10 professional tournaments per year. He competed until taking the Westcliff job in 2018.
Danko has been with RPM for 9 years! Over the years Danko has coached several national champions, All-Americans and all-conference players. He was selected to serve as the USA Volleyball Men’s Beach Collegiate National Team Head Coach in 2021. He currently coaches for the USA Volleyball NTDP and he is also an NTDP scout for beach volleyball. Danko still helps as a volunteer with the US Women’s National Team.
